Gluten Free, Vegan Dinner Rolls are perfect for Thanksgiving or other holiday get togethers. They are simple to make and require 10 ingredients! Even if you are new to gluten free baking, these rolls are fool proof. I have made them countless times and they have ALWAYS worked. Quite an accomplishment for gluten free breads- especially with NO EGGS. Hallelujah. I made them this week and my husband’s response was, “Wow, these are really good. You wouldn’t even know they are gluten free. They honestly taste like a wheat dinner roll.  I think that is about as close to wheat as you can get.” So there you have it. If you are looking for a good gluten free, vegan roll this is your recipe. For all my gluten free friend who feel deprived of breads, give this recipe a shot. It will satisfy your “wheat craving.”



Gluten Free, Vegan Dinner Rolls

Serves: 9 servings
  • ¾ c. warm water
  • 2 tsp. yeast
  • 2 tsp. agave or honey
  • 3 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • 1 flax egg or egg replacer (a regular large egg also works)
  • 1 c. brow rice flour
  • ¼ c. potato starch
  • ¼ c. tapioca starch
  • 1 tsp. xanthan gum
  1. Combine yeast, agave/honey, and warm water and set aside.
  2. If using flax egg, combine 1 tbsp. ground flax and 3 tbsp. water. Stir, and let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. In a medium sized bowl, combine brown rice flour, salt, starches, and xanthan gum.
  4. Stir in yeast mixture, flax egg (or regular egg), apple cider vinegar, and oil.
  5. Dough should be thick and resemble a cake batter.
  6. Using a spoon or large muffin scoop, scoop dough into a greased pie tin or 8x8 glassware. Scoop dough into 9 balls.
  7. Set aside and let rise for 45-60 minutes, or until dough doubles in size.
  8. Preheat oven to 375 and cook for 25 minutes. Check rolls at 20 minutes. Cover with foil if tops are starting to brown.
